Meeting #192 – Autumn – Wrap-Up

Meeting Summary #192 – Autumn

Hi Leaders and Public Speakers,

Here’s the summary of this week’s amazing meeting in Arteteka. Even though we only had 1 speech, we had many guests and many fun moments :)

The word of the day was “cozy“, which means giving a feeling of comfort, warmth, and relaxation.

Przemysław was the Toastmaster of our meeting and after the introduction called our TTM on stage, Marlena, who presented the warm-up question: “How do you know it’s already Autumn?”. Everyone was able to answer the question and introduce themselves in 30 seconds.

Then we started the prepared speeches section with the only prepared speech of the evening, by Ricardo. His speech was an unusual one: it was delivered in Polish (a personal challenge for him) and the title was “Jak Zbudować Systematyczność?“. He described the structure of each habit and how we can use habits to learn new languages, eat more healthy and learn new skills like public speaking. The speech was Ricardo’s Project #8 – Get Comfortable With Visual Aids.

With this speech, Ricardo finished his Competent Communicator manual (the first speech manual in Toastmasters). Now he’s going to choose 2 Advanced Manuals to learn from!

The Table Topic Session followed, with 4 brave contestants taking part in it, and Marlena leading the session. Each participant was asked a question about the Autumn (for example, “Imagine your friends are visiting you and the weather is cold and rainy. How will you present the city of Krakow to them?”) and then between 1 to 2 minutes deliver an improvised talk to the audience. We had some great moments :)

Shout out to our amazing guest Elena from Ukraine for joining in on the fun and even taking part in the Table Topic Session! The winner of this Table Topic Session was Elena as well. Congratulations!

Finally, Gosia presented the timer report, Wojtek gave us grammar suggestions, Alicja informed us of all the unnecessary sounds we made during the last hour and Elena evaluated the whole meeting.

Then we started the prepared speeches section which featured just 1 speech, but what an amazing speech it was.

Gabor presented a very captivating speech with the title “On Depression“, evaluated by Ricardo, where he shared a very personal insight on what was probably the greatest battle of his life.  The speech was Gabor’s Project #2 – Organize Your Speech.

The Table Topic Session followed, with 5 brave contestants taking part in it (mostly guests, which was amazing!), and Ricardo leading the session.
